HERTITAGE INTERPRETATION GUIDE - Funding Dependent

This 40-hour per week position begins in May and runs through to the first week in Sept. The HERITAGE INTERPRETATION GUIDE will be stationed at the Native Garden & Interpretation Trail located adjacent to the Cultural Centre. The Guide will be responsible for delivering regular tours at the Site, as well as leading groups from the site to the Heritage Trail Head at the far end of the Village. During periods of poor weather or other such circumstance, the position will relocate to the Centre where they will guide guests through the Main Gallery.

SEASONAL TOUR GUIDE - Funding Dependent

The SEASONAL TOUR GUIDE is a full-time position (40 hours per week), Thursday to Monday (Tuesday and Wednesday off), April through August. As a member of the customer service team, you will interface with visitors and community members, and provide information on the Sacred Potlatch Collection, as well as the Native Garden & Interpretation Trail which is located adjacent to the main building. You will inform, educate and entertain visitors of all ages and nationalities, about the history of the anti-potlatch era, the settling of the west coast of British Columbia, and the cultural traditions of the Kwak’wala peoples. As time permits, you will engage in on-line research that aligns with the Society’s mandate. You will help support the development and delivery of a new exhibit opening in Summer 2015.

You must be adept at working with the public and have demonstrated experience in pubic speaking and presentation skills.

Some outdoor work will be required.

For this position, you must be at least 18 years of age, returning to full-time studies in the fall, and legally able to work in Canada. Those who do not meet this criteria, will not be considered for this position.
